In 2012, Officer Brian Thomas was involved in the beating of Clemmin Davis during a traffic stop for an expired tag. After Davis fled and collapsed, Thomas admitted to kicking him. Thomas resigned while under investigation. Prior to this incident, Thomas had four separate cases where investigators recommended his termination, but higher-ups reversed these recommendations. In 2017, Georgia’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Council revoked Thomas’s state police certification.
