Ernest Ferguson – Savannah Police Department

On June 24, 2022, Officer Ernest Ferguson shot and killed Saudi Lee in the Carver Village neighborhood. Ferguson was indicted on three counts of felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and making false statements. Prior to this incident, Ferguson had a history of nine use-of-force incidents during his tenure as a corrections officer at Coastal State Prison. He was terminated from the Savannah Police Department in October 2022 following a DUI arrest.
