In June 2021, Officer Kenneth Amick arrested a man with an outstanding warrant at the Greeley municipal building. During the arrest, Amick placed the suspect in a chokehold, causing the suspect to pass out. Other officers intervened to release the chokehold. Chokeholds are illegal for officers to use on suspects in Colorado, and Amick had recently attended training to that effect. He was terminated from the Greeley Police Department and charged criminally, later pleading guilty to reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.
