In 2014, Sgt. Darren Cachola was caught on surveillance video repeatedly punching his girlfriend in a Waipahu restaurant. Despite the incident, he was reinstated as a police officer after arbitration, which controversially described the event as a ‘playful sparring match.’ Cachola had been previously investigated for other acts of domestic violence.
