Officer Joey Hancock conducted a nonconsensual search of a family’s vehicle on August 5, 2021, during a traffic stop. The driver, David Stautihar, repeatedly objected to the search, which was conducted without justification or consent. The ACLU of Indiana filed a lawsuit against Hancock, alleging violations of the Fourth Amendment. The search did not yield any evidence of drugs or other criminal activity.
