In August 2022, Officer Keith Earnest conducted a traffic stop involving Nicolas Brown. During the stop, Earnest drew his handgun and later used a taser on Brown, causing him to fall and sustain injuries. Brown filed a federal lawsuit alleging violations of his constitutional rights, claiming he was arrested without probable cause and wrongfully detained. Earnest voluntarily resigned from the department in February 2023, the same month the lawsuit was filed.
