Reserve Officer Lamarquist Pritchett was removed from the Gary Police Department after failing to cooperate with a double homicide investigation in October 2016. He did not answer his door when officers, including a K-9 unit, attempted to contact him, later admitting he feared they were serving a warrant for unpaid child support. Pritchett also failed to appear for multiple meetings with internal affairs regarding his non-cooperation. The Gary Police Civil Service Commission initially reinstated him, but the decision was overturned by the Lake Circuit Court and upheld by the Indiana Court of Appeals, citing his repeated and blatant noncompliance with department orders. Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
