On May 13, 2019, Officer Gibson initiated a traffic stop and, during the arrest of E.M., punched him several times with a closed fist. After E.M. was restrained, Gibson delivered a knee strike to the right side of E.M.’s head. Gibson authored a false report to cover up the incident. He pleaded guilty to civil rights and obstruction charges and was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
