On June 2, 2019, Officer Christopher Eral employed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver during a high-speed chase involving Dean Christiansen. The maneuver was executed at speeds exceeding department policy limits, causing Christiansen’s vehicle to crash, resulting in injuries. Christiansen filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force and constitutional violations. The case was dismissed in October 2022, with the court ruling that Christiansen failed to state a claim upon which relief could be granted.
