Alex Ruiz – Elizabethtown Police Department

On October 19, 2024, Lieutenant Alex Ruiz was involved in a shooting incident at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital. A man fired a gun inside the hospital and threatened patients and staff. Lt. Ruiz responded and shot the suspect, who was critically injured. Following standard procedure, Lt. Ruiz was placed on paid administrative leave pending investigation.
