In May 2013, Officer Jody Ledoux was involved in the arrest of Don Harger, a local business owner, over a disputed battery. Ledoux allegedly shoved Harger into a battery rack and threatened him with a taser. Harger was arrested for theft, interfering with a police officer, and simple assault. All charges were later dropped, and Harger filed a lawsuit against Ledoux and the City of West Monroe, alleging false arrest and excessive force. The court found that the officers lacked probable cause for the arrest and denied them qualified immunity.
