In August 2012, Patrol Officer Benjamin Murtiff participated in the arrest of Michael J. Albert Sr. at the Augusta homeless shelter. Albert claimed that excessive force was used, leading to a torn rotator cuff. In May 2016, a jury found Officer Murtiff not liable for the excessive force allegation.
