As of August 2023, the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission released a database containing 3,413 disciplinary records for over 2,100 officers from 273 law enforcement agencies. The Boston Police Department accounted for 373 of these records, involving over 260 current and former officers. The records include sustained allegations of bias, excessive or deadly force, and criminal misconduct. Typical disciplinary actions range from written warnings to terminations. The release aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the department.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Violation of these rules will result in immediate content removal and possible account suspension.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
