In February 2023, an officer was placed on administrative leave after body camera footage showed him kicking 36-year-old Garry Young in the head during an arrest. Young, accused of domestic violence, led officers on a high-speed chase before being apprehended. During the arrest, Young was bitten by a police dog and struck multiple times by officers. The incident prompted an investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
