Between 2018 and 2019, Chief Vernon Coakley repeatedly pulled the hair of a female KDPS employee despite her objections. In June 2022, he publicly yelled at the same employee for not responding to his greeting. Additionally, in August 2022, two other female city employees reported that Coakley made inappropriate sexual comments to them. An independent investigation found these allegations credible, leading to Coakley’s retirement effective January 1, 2023, with a severance package of $155,250.
