Angela Sands, a former sergeant with the Lincoln Police Department, filed a charge of discrimination in January 2021 alleging sex-based discrimination, harassment, and a toxic workplace culture. She reported that after her promotion to sergeant, she faced retaliation for addressing harassment of women within the department. Sands was terminated in December 2021 following internal affairs investigations, which she contends were retaliatory in nature.
