In 2014, then-Lieutenant Charles Dyac was named in a lawsuit filed by former dispatcher Janelle Sargent, who accused him of failing to act on her reports of domestic violence by her then-husband, former Litchfield police Capt. Benjamin Sargent. The lawsuit alleged that Dyac, along with other officers, did little or nothing each time she reported assaults, leading to her fear for her life. The court ruled in favor of the defendants, granting them summary judgment.
