On October 16, 2016, Officer Vincent Flatley assisted Officer Jorge Hidalgo in arresting Carlos Gonzalez, who was in diabetic shock, under suspicion of DUI. The officers failed to provide medical assistance, leading to a lawsuit that the City of Elizabeth settled for $99,500 in April 2023.
