Captain Peter Lopresti was charged with violations of the Old Bridge Police Department’s Rules and Regulations and the department’s policy concerning harassment in the workplace. The charges stemmed from a recorded conversation between Lopresti and other officers while on duty, which included sexist, harassing, and discriminatory comments. Following a disciplinary hearing, Lopresti was terminated from his position. However, upon appeal, the Superior Court declared the recording inadmissible, leading to the dismissal of the charges and his reinstatement.
