On April 5, 2023, Officer Daniel Estrada, along with Officers Dylan Goodluck and Waylon Wasson, responded to a domestic violence call but mistakenly approached the wrong address. They fatally shot homeowner Robert Dotson, who was armed, after he opened his door. The New Mexico Attorney General’s Office determined the officers did not use excessive force and declined to press charges. A wrongful death lawsuit filed by Dotson’s family is ongoing.
