In August 2022, Officer Keith Earnest conducted a traffic stop during which he used a taser on Nicolas Brown, who had exited his vehicle. Brown filed a federal lawsuit alleging that his constitutional rights were violated, claiming he was arrested without probable cause and wrongfully detained. Earnest voluntarily resigned from the department in February 2023, the same month the lawsuit was filed.
