In June 2020, Officer Kevin Piner was fired after an internal investigation revealed he made racially charged remarks, including expressing readiness for a civil war and planning to ‘start slaughtering them’ (using a racial slur). His comments were recorded during a routine video audit of his patrol car. The incident led to the review of 89 cases he was involved in for potential bias.
