    In August 2022, Assistant Chief David Oyler was implicated in a lawsuit alleging gender discrimination within the department. The complaint claimed Oyler harbored a ‘well-known grudge’ against the female crime lab director and made ‘baseless threats of possible felony charges’ against her in 2017 because she was a woman in a leadership role. The lawsuit highlighted a broader culture of gender bias within the department.
