In February 2022, Officer Timothy Larson fatally shot Brandon Combs at a Nissan dealership in Concord. Combs was attempting to steal a vehicle when Larson confronted him. After the incident, Larson was terminated in May 2022 for making untruthful statements during the investigation. In August 2022, the District Attorney announced that no criminal charges would be filed against Larson. In February 2023, Larson filed a lawsuit against the city and police chief, alleging wrongful termination and civil rights violations.
