In November 2024, Sgt. Ryan Moan was charged with initiating an online relationship with a minor. He was placed on unpaid leave and died by suicide on December 6, 2024, the day he was arrested. Following his death, at least one local student accused Moan of sexual misconduct. The town received an intent to sue related to these allegations.
