In 2021, after an alcohol-fueled evening, Officer Fetty engaged in what a judge determined, by a preponderance of evidence, was sexual assault against another officer. Initially suspended in September 2021, he was terminated in September 2022. Arbitrators and courts ruled that the termination violated contract provisions, ordering his reinstatement. The city has appealed to the state Supreme Court, and the case is pending.
