Between 2022 and May 2024, the Houston Police Department recorded 835 disciplinary actions, with the majority described as procedural violations. Most officers received no suspension, and the largest suspension issued was 30 days. During this period, there were 11,367 use-of-force incidents, with 15 officers disciplined for excessive force, most receiving five days of suspension or none. The data has led to debates over the effectiveness of the department’s disciplinary measures.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
