On May 4, 2015, Officer Jurgens used a Taser and pepper spray on David Washington, an unarmed man experiencing a medical emergency. Washington was unresponsive due to a stroke when Jurgens arrived on the scene and deployed his Taser without verbal warning, striking Washington in the face. He then used pepper spray and threatened to shoot Washington. The incident led to a lawsuit alleging excessive force and denial of medical care, resulting in a confidential settlement. Jurgens resigned from the department on May 14, 2015.
