In March 2024, Deputy Cpl. Mark Belisle was placed on paid administrative leave after making improper comments to a jury during a sexual assault trial in Washington County. Belisle allegedly informed jurors that the defendant was in jail during the trial and expressed a bias toward believing police officers over other witnesses. These actions led to the judge ordering a new trial. An internal investigation was initiated, and Belisle declined to comment during the pending investigation.
