Written by In April 2019, Officer Cory Campbell punched Douglas Kilburn during an altercation at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Kilburn died two days later, and his death was ruled a homicide due to blunt force trauma. The city settled a wrongful death lawsuit with Kilburn’s family for $45,000 in 2021. Campbell was also named in a 2025 lawsuit alleging excessive force resulting in a broken wrist for Isaac Jollie-Coghlan.
