In March 2022, Officer Shawn Guetschow, while off-duty and working as a security guard at Lincoln Middle School, was captured on video kneeling on the neck of a 12-year-old girl for approximately 30 seconds while breaking up a fight. The incident led to a federal civil rights lawsuit filed in February 2023, alleging excessive force and constitutional rights violations. Guetschow resigned from his school district position but was reinstated to active duty with the Kenosha Police Department in January 2023 after internal investigations found no policy violations.”
