In March 2022, former deputy Blake Hicks used excessive force during the arrest of Tristen Quinn. Hicks punched and kicked Quinn, who was handcuffed and lying on the ground, resulting in a broken cheekbone, concussion, and lacerations. Hicks pleaded guilty to violating Quinn’s civil rights and was sentenced to 29 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
