Create And Track Police Department History

On June 23, 2021, Deputy Michael Davis fatally shot 17-year-old Hunter Brittain during a traffic stop. Brittain was unarmed and holding a container of antifreeze. Davis was fired for not activating his body camera in a timely manner. In March 2022, he was convicted of negligent homicide and sentenced to one year in jail. The Brittain family filed a federal lawsuit against Davis and Sheriff John Staley, alleging violations of constitutional rights.
