On May 6, 2016, Investigator Gentry was present during an incident where Deputy Wendell Randall’s pepper spray deployment inadvertently hit inmate Hollis Devin Martz. Martz alleged that Gentry, along with Deputies Randall and Dowdle, denied him a shower, change of clothes, and medical attention. The court granted qualified immunity to the officers, stating that the law was not clearly established regarding the failure to provide decontamination or medical care absent prior unconstitutional excessive force.
