Michael Spears – Yell County Sheriff’s Office

In March 2014, Michael Spears, a former Yell County sheriff’s deputy, was involved in an incident at the Yell County Juvenile Detention Center where a 13-year-old boy’s arm was severely fractured. Spears was charged with second-degree battery in July 2015. The incident highlighted the use of excessive force and improper restraint techniques at the facility. Spears denied any wrongdoing, but the charges were filed after a state police investigation. The case brought attention to the treatment of juveniles in detention centers and led to policy changes within the facility.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
