Deputy Christopher Hernandez – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department

In June 2020, Deputy Christopher Hernandez was involved in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Andres Guardado near Gardena. Hernandez was present during the incident where Guardado was shot five times in the back by Deputy Miguel Vega. The shooting led to public outcry and an $8 million settlement approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in November 2022. The district attorney’s office is still deciding whether to file charges against Hernandez.
