Deputy Kutz – Madera County Sheriff’s Department

In May 2016, Deputy Kutz was involved in an incident where he allegedly used excessive force against a disabled individual, Mr. Sienze. The allegations included tackling Mr. Sienze, forcefully handcuffing him behind his back despite his disability, and repeatedly smashing his head into a patrol car door, resulting in injuries. A lawsuit was filed against Deputy Kutz and other officers, claiming violations of constitutional rights due to excessive force. The court found that the allegations were sufficient to state a claim for excessive force under the Fourth Amendment. The case was documented in Sienze v. Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Case No. 1:17-cv-00736-AWI-SAB.
