David Hackman – San Benito County Sheriff’s Office

In April 2004, Deputy David Hackman, along with Deputy David Zander, allegedly beat 71-year-old Jose Jimenez during an arrest, resulting in broken ribs. Jimenez filed a civil rights lawsuit against Hackman, Zander, Sheriff Curtis Hill, and San Benito County. In October 2004, while off-duty, Hackman was charged with felony battery for allegedly assaulting a man at a baseball game in Anaheim, causing a fractured skull and two fractured vertebrae. Hackman retired from the department in September 2005 citing medical reasons, allowing him to retain a portion of his pension.
