    In September 2024, Deputy Matthew O’Keefe was arrested and charged with felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor domestic battery following allegations of domestic abuse. The alleged victim claimed that O’Keefe physically assaulted her during an argument, including punching her in the face and restraining her for several hours. O’Keefe was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal and civil cases. The sheriff emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for domestic violence and dishonorable behavior within the department.
