In 2009, Sergeant Reynolds participated in an incident involving inmate Shamel Howell, who refused to remove non-regulation shorts and made verbal threats. After several attempts to gain compliance, Sergeant Reynolds and Sergeant King simultaneously deployed tasers to subdue Howell. The court later determined that the use of force was appropriate under the circumstances and did not constitute excessive force.
