In October 2022, Deputy Camara was involved in an incident where Anthony Silva, a homeless man, was forcibly slammed to the ground during an arrest, resulting in Silva’s paralysis and subsequent death. A federal wrongful death lawsuit was filed against the county. The District Attorney’s Office declined to press criminal charges against Camara.
