In 2015, Captain Hernan Oviedo admitted to driving his county vehicle while intoxicated and made inappropriate comments regarding female employees. He also threatened to shoot Sergeant Dean Nyland in the head for discussing a murder investigation with then-Sheriff Prieto. Oviedo assigned himself to investigate allegations of sexual harassment within the department and dismissed the complaints.
