    Deputy Ivan Garcia was implicated alongside Sergeant James Chavez in a 2010 lawsuit alleging excessive force during the arrest of Deherrera on March 3, 2009. Garcia was present during the incident where Deherrera’s head was allegedly slammed into a door, and he was thrown to the ground while handcuffed. The lawsuit brought claims of excessive force under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 and state law claims for assault and battery.
