In April 2016, while employed at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Sergeant Jaworski referred to President Barack Obama using a racial slur in front of several deputies and members of the coroner’s office. He also used a derogatory term to refer to a Pacific Islander colleague. Following these incidents, Jaworski was forced to retire from the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Elder publicly stated that he would have fired Jaworski had he not retired voluntarily.
