In 2015, Sgt. Jim Shires resigned amid an investigation into the mistreatment of inmate Logan McDaniel. Deputies under his supervision were found to have intentionally harassed McDaniel by sloshing dirty mop water into his cell, playing aggravating music, showing him provocative pictures, and kicking his food onto the floor.
