In April 2017, Sgt. Adam Alcon was fired after an internal investigation revealed he had stolen equipment, including a rifle scope and night vision goggles, from the sheriff’s office inventory. He pleaded guilty to first-degree official misconduct, a Class 2 misdemeanor, in July 2017. The theft charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement, and he was fined $250. The missing property was recovered during the investigation.
