In 2014, Deputy Browning was involved in an incident where she allegedly used excessive force on a spectator at a high school basketball game. The spectator claimed that Deputy Browning grabbed her left arm, pulled her down the bleachers backwards, and tightened her grip despite multiple requests to be released, resulting in a shoulder injury requiring medical attention. The spectator filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force. However, the court found that Deputy Browning’s actions did not violate the spectator’s constitutional rights, and the case was dismissed.
