Deputy Timothy Allen filed a lawsuit alleging that former Sheriff Steve Stephens retaliated against him and treated him inappropriately for dating fellow Deputy Tasha Hewitt. The lawsuit claimed Stephens ‘berated’ Allen about his relationship, threatened to demote him, and called Hewitt a ‘gender-specific derogatory term.’ Allen alleged his career suffered after Stephens discovered the relationship in May 2019. The case was settled in June 2024; details of the settlement were confidential.
