In 2004, Deputy Cordell Pearson was involved in the forced catheterization of Haley Owen Hooper after she refused a urine test. Despite Hooper offering to provide a blood sample, Pearson and other deputies proceeded with the catheterization, which was later deemed illegal. A judge ruled that the results of the urine test should be suppressed, leading to the dismissal of all charges against Hooper. The judge also noted that such procedures should be limited to the most exigent circumstances and extreme necessity.
