Accused of racial and religious profiling during a 2017 traffic stop involving two Black women and a child. Allegedly stopped the vehicle without apparent reason, issued a citation for an improperly secured child, and conducted a prolonged search without finding any contraband. The incident led to a lawsuit settled in January 2024, with the county paying over $93,000. Rael left the department following a use of force investigation in the East Mountains.
